Nigeria's Dangote Refinery operates at full capacity, with a daily capacity of 650,000 barrels, exporting diesel to Europe

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 11, the latest operating information from Nigeria's Dangote Refinery showed that the plant is currently operating at full capacity and is organizing production with diesel and jet fuel as its main high-margin products, with the larger-scale jet fuel continuing to supply the European market. The crude distillation unit capacity currently disclosed on Dangote's official website is 700,000 barrels per day, higher than the 650,000 barrels per day design basis adopted in the early stage of the project; this adjustment came from the capacity expansion project completed in February 2026.

The Dangote refinery is located in the Lekki Free Zone in Lagos and currently can produce Euro V-compliant refined products such as gasoline, diesel, and Jet A-1 jet fuel. The refinery is equipped with a deep-water jetty, storage tanks, and a refined product transportation system, enabling it to directly organize seaborne exports to international markets. Its current crude distillation capacity is 700,000 barrels per day, and the company has launched a further expansion plan, aiming to increase refining capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day by 2029.

Europe has now become an important export market for Dangote jet fuel. Kpler statistics show that in June 2026, the refinery exported about 466,000 tons of jet fuel to Europe; in July, exports continued to exceed 400,000 tons, accounting for about 20% of Europe's total jet fuel imports that month, making it the largest source of imported jet fuel for Europe for the second consecutive month. Vortexa data show that in July alone, more than 330,000 tons of Dangote jet fuel entered ports in Northwest Europe, while another about 108,000 tons were shipped to the Mediterranean region.

After entering September, the refinery's high-load operation continued to be supported by crude oil procurement. Dangote has purchased at least 16 million barrels of Nigerian crude for October delivery, equivalent to about 520,000 barrels per day; in August, the plant received about 565,000 barrels per day of Nigerian crude. In addition to domestic crude, the refinery has also arranged to purchase U.S. WTI Midland crude and has previously procured feedstock from markets such as Libya and Guyana.

The refinery is currently focusing on increasing diesel and jet fuel output, in step with changes in Europe's refined product supply structure. Since 2026, Middle Eastern refineries and refined product exports have been continuously disrupted, and Europe has increased alternative supply from West Africa, the United States, and other regions. Among Europe's jet fuel imports, Nigeria's supply scale has exceeded that of the United States for two consecutive months in June and July, with the Dangote refinery becoming the main source of supply.
