Fire at Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant in Japan
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On Tuesday, September 15, Chubu Electric Power Company of Japan stated that a fire broke out that day at the Hamaoka nuclear power plant, which is located in Omaezaki City, Shizuoka Prefecture, central Japan, and is currently out of operation.
Chubu Electric Power Company said the fire caused no casualties and had no impact on the safety of the nuclear power plant.
At around 10:40 a.m., a worker inspecting the power cutoff and connection control building discovered a small fire in a control cabinet. The worker was inspecting anti-electric shock equipment in the central control room of Unit 3, which had failed to operate properly after installation work.
The local fire department confirmed about 30 minutes later that the fire had been completely extinguished.
Chubu Electric Power Company subsequently issued a statement expressing deep apology for the fire and promising to conduct an in-depth investigation into the cause of the fire.
