en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 15, good news came from the construction milestone of Unit 1 of the Jiangsu Xuwei Nuclear Heating and Power Plant, the first nuclear power unit to start construction during China's "15th Five-Year Plan" period: Module 3 of the nuclear island containment steel liner was successfully hoisted into place, marking another key advance in the project's main construction.

The module hoisted this time, Module 3, adopts an assembled structure of two-layer cylindrical wall plates. The module weighs 133 tonnes, with a total lifting weight of 258.52 tonnes. The module body is 11 meters high, and the hoisting elevation is 15.75 meters. As the module was smoothly set in place, the already installed Module 1 and Module 2 were connected with Module 3 as one integrated body, and the cumulative overall height of the containment steel liner cylinder reached 31.45 meters.

The containment is the core safety barrier of the nuclear island. As an important part of the containment, the steel liner adopts a construction scheme of modular prefabrication and on-site assembly. The cylinder is divided into 6 modules for hoisting operations in sequence. The successful completion of the Module 3 hoisting task marks that the installation of the containment steel liner cylinder for Unit 1 of the Jiangsu Xuwei Nuclear Heating and Power Plant is more than halfway complete, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent construction of the remaining cylinder modules and major milestone tasks such as dome hoisting.

As a key nuclear energy project promoted at the start of the national "15th Five-Year Plan," the Jiangsu Xuwei Nuclear Heating and Power Plant combines power generation and industrial heating functions.
