All 4,600-plus pieces of equipment for the PC plant of Fujian China-Saudi Gulei project under China Tianchen have been fully installed

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Recently, the Fujian China-Saudi Gulei PC&BPA complex project, contracted by China Chemical Tianchen Company on an EPC basis, completed the hoisting and positioning of the fifth DMC reactor. With this, all installation tasks for the more than 4,600 pieces of equipment in the PC plant have been completed, and the project continues to advance toward mechanical completion and intermediate handover. The PC&BPA complex is being built by Fujian China-Saudi Petrochemical Co., Ltd. and is an important part of the Fujian Gulei 1.5 million t/a ethylene and downstream deep-processing complex project. Official information from China Tianchen shows that the complex's product scale includes 250,000 t/a phenol, 150,000 t/a acetone, 270,000 t/a bisphenol A, and 290,000 t/a polycarbonate.

The DMC reactor whose installation was completed this time adopts the SABIC polycarbonate process package and is one of the core pieces of equipment in the PC plant. Its manufacturing involves special materials and a relatively long production cycle, and it was also one of the owner-supplied pieces of equipment that arrived later in the project. Since the arrival time of the DMC reactor directly affects the construction of PTFE-lined and tantalum-lined piping, the project team carried out the relevant piping and electrical and instrumentation works in advance before the equipment arrived and reserved measured adjustment sections for the piping; after the equipment was positioned, the relevant modules were dismantled and the piping was reinstalled.

In response to the oversized transport requirements for the DMC reactor, during the project construction stage a transport plan for large equipment was also prepared in advance, low-bed transport vehicles were used, and a transport passage for the equipment was reserved during the design stage of the external pipe rack, enabling the reactor to enter the installation area under conditions of simultaneous construction of the pipe rack and surrounding works.

Several units of the PC&BPA complex had previously completed mechanical completion one after another. In February 2026, the first batch of units, including the cumene unit, completed mechanical completion; in May, the phenol-acetone unit, heat transfer oil unit, DPC unit, natural gas compression unit, and the plant-wide pipe rack completed the second batch of mechanical completion and shifted to the system commissioning and production preparation stage. In May, the two DMC product recovery towers also completed on-site installation.

The entire China-Saudi Gulei project is located in the Gulei Petrochemical Base in Zhangzhou, Fujian, with a total investment of approximately RMB 44.8 billion, building a 1.5 million t/a ethylene and downstream deep-processing complex that includes 14 major chemical units in total. The Fujian Provincial Government previously disclosed that, as of January 2026, the project's overall construction progress had exceeded 93%, and it is planned to be completed and put into operation in 2026.

With the completion of all equipment installation in the PC plant, the focus of subsequent construction for the complex has shifted to the remaining piping, electrical and instrumentation works, system commissioning, and intermediate handover. Some units that have already completed mechanical completion have entered the system commissioning and production preparation stage.
