ADNOC Distribution Plans to Add Aviation Refueling Operations at Two Airports in Egypt

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 21, ADNOC Distribution, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, planned to expand its aviation fuel business in Egypt, with plans to launch aircraft refueling services at Sphinx International Airport in October 2026 and to enter Hurghada International Airport before the end of the year. The related business is part of an aviation fuel investment arrangement of approximately USD 50 million. The company will conduct operations at the two airports using existing state-owned fuel infrastructure under its cooperation with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC).

ADNOC Distribution had previously carried out aviation fuel supply in Egypt. The company's aviation fuel sales data for the first half of 2026 show that sales in the Egyptian market were approximately 129 million liters, while the group's total aviation fuel sales during the same period were approximately 357 million liters, with Egypt accounting for about 36%. The addition of Sphinx and Hurghada airports will further expand its aviation fuel supply network at Egyptian airports.

The aviation fuel business has become an important source of revenue for ADNOC Distribution's operations in Egypt. The company had previously conducted related business in Cairo and Marsa Alam, and in 2024 began discussing further entry into the airport refueling market with Egypt's petroleum authorities. In 2025, it also studied expanding its business to more airports, including Alamein.

This aviation business expansion is advancing in parallel with ADNOC Distribution's expansion of its downstream business in Egypt. The company currently has approximately 245 service stations in Egypt and is studying an investment of approximately USD 1 billion to add approximately 400 service stations, planned to be implemented in two phases of approximately 200 each. New sites may be advanced through independent construction, joint development with EGPC, renovation, and leasing. The retail network investment is still in the study stage and is a different business arrangement from the USD 50 million airport aviation fuel project.
