Argentina's Dinosaurio Solar Park Begins Operation with 40 MW Installed Capacity

en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Dinosaurio Solar Park (Parque Solar Dinosaurio) in Córdoba Province, Argentina, has officially begun operation, with an installed capacity of 40 MW. Provincial Governor Martín Llaryora attended the inauguration ceremony. The plant is located near Deán Funes in the Ischilín Department (departamento de Ischilín), covers an area of 75 hectares, and according to Grupo Dinosaurio, its generation is equivalent to the electricity consumption of more than 25,000 households.

The project represents an investment of approximately USD 30 million. pv magazine first reported on the construction of the plant in December 2025, when it was announced that approximately 59,000 modules would be installed; the technical parameters released by the project developer on this occasion show that 58,500 bifacial photovoltaic modules equipped with solar trackers were ultimately installed.

The park contains five substations, as well as its own substation jointly operated with the Provincial Energy Company of Córdoba (Empresa Provincial de Energía de Córdoba, EPEC). The related infrastructure allows the generated electricity to be fed into the 66 kV grid of the Provincial Interconnected System (Sistema Interconectado Provincial).

The park operates under the Córdoba Community Distributed Generation mechanism (Generación Distribuida Comunitaria de Córdoba), with the electricity generated used to offset the consumption of Grupo Dinosaurio's various business divisions, while surplus electricity is injected into the provincial grid managed by EPEC.

The government of Córdoba Province stated that the project involved laying approximately 700 kilometers of underground cables and created approximately 200 jobs during construction, most of which were filled by workers from municipalities in the northern part of the province.

Prior to this inauguration, other photovoltaic self-consumption projects were also added in Córdoba this year. In April, 360Energy and Stellantis commissioned an 8 MWp plant at the Córdoba Industrial Park (Polo Industrial Córdoba), with an expected annual generation of 16.7 GWh. The province is also advancing multiple projects under the community mechanism, including the Marcos Juárez park, which is planned for a first phase of 100 kW with the possibility of expansion to 1 MW.
