en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 29, the main construction of Phase II of China's Hainan Commercial Spacecraft Launch Site was completed, and joint drills were launched for two launch pads. The project built two general-purpose medium liquid launch pads, which can provide launch services for launch vehicles such as the Long March 12B with a core stage diameter of less than 5 meters and a two-stage configuration. The two pads will subsequently continue to undergo systematic joint drills and tests, and are planned to achieve launch capability within 2026.

Phase II of the Hainan Commercial Spacecraft Launch Site project started construction on January 25, 2025. It is located in Dongjiao Town, Wenchang City, Hainan Province, with a total area of more than 1,100 mu, and mainly involves the construction of the launch area, technical area, and related supporting facilities. On July 24, 2026, the civil engineering work of the Phase II launch area was completed, and the project fully shifted to the equipment commissioning and joint drill stage; after the completion of the main construction this time, the two new pads entered the stage of systematic joint verification. Public information shows that Hainan Province had previously included the completion of No. 3 and No. 4 launch pads and the achievement of launch capability in its relevant construction arrangements for 2026.

The main construction of Phase II took 612 days from commencement to completion. After the newly added pads in Phase II achieve launch capability, they will jointly undertake commercial launch vehicle launch missions together with the existing pads at the launch site. The existing general-purpose liquid pad at the Hainan Commercial Spacecraft Launch Site is designed under a unified model based on a maximum core stage diameter of 5 meters, and can be adapted to a variety of commercial liquid launch vehicles. The newly added pads in Phase II further expand the infrastructure scale for parallel testing and launch of multiple rocket models.

According to the existing construction plan, after Phase II fully achieves launch capability, the comprehensive designed annual launch capacity of the four liquid launch pads at the Hainan Commercial Spacecraft Launch Site will exceed 60 launches. In addition to launch pads, Hainan is also advancing the construction of a commercial space tracking, telemetry and command system and a sea recovery system, with related facilities covering links such as rocket launch, flight tracking and control, and recovery of reusable rockets. Public information shows that within 2026, Phase II is also scheduled to advance the construction of a liquid rocket propellant loading system and complete full-system joint drills.
