Serbia's Kolektor Etra Commissions New €14 Million Transformer Workshop

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Kolektor Etra Beograd has commissioned a new transformer production workshop in Barajevo near Belgrade, adding 3,100 square meters of floor space with a project investment of approximately €14 million. The new workshop is intended to expand power transformer manufacturing capacity and is equipped with two transformer winding and core drying ovens, a 70-ton industrial crane, and an air-cushion handling system for the safe movement of heavy equipment.

Kolektor Etra currently produces approximately 70 power transformers per year in Barajevo, and the company plans to increase annual output to 150 units by 2030 and raise the local workforce from 175 to approximately 230 employees. Its subsequent expansion plans also include building new coil winding facilities, with Serbia's Development Agency disclosing a target of further increasing capacity by 2028, with annual production capacity expected to exceed 200 units.

The Barajevo plant mainly produces small and medium-sized power transformers, with products aimed at Western and Northern European markets. According to information from Serbia's Development Agency, the plant can produce products up to the 40 MVA class, with export markets including Sweden, the United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark, Austria, the Netherlands, Norway, and France, and it has begun entering the Swiss market.

This round of new workshop investment continues Kolektor Etra's local capacity expansion cycle. The company already invested €7.5 million in 2024 to build a high-voltage laboratory, and with the new workshop in operation, the total disclosed investment in the Barajevo plant for the recent cycle has reached €21.5 million. The additional production space will take on more small and medium-sized transformer manufacturing tasks and free up large transformer manufacturing capacity at the group's Črnuče site in Ljubljana.
