Ingersoll Rand India Expands Compressed Air Business for Semiconductor Factories

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 29, Ingersoll Rand India proposed to increase the scale of its compressor business related to semiconductor and electronics manufacturing to 4–5 billion rupees over the next 3 to 4 years. Over the past two years, this business has contributed approximately 1 billion rupees and has become one of the company's fastest-growing business segments in India. Its existing customers include Micron, Kaynes, CG Power, and Tata Electronics, among other enterprises that are building or operating semiconductor and electronics manufacturing facilities in India.

Semiconductor factories mainly procure oil-free compressed air systems for production processes such as wafer fabrication, packaging and testing, electronic components, and PCBs. Ingersoll Rand offers Class 0 oil-free compressed air equipment for electronics manufacturing, including oil-free screw compressors, centrifugal compressors, and oil-free scroll equipment, which can meet the requirements of production environments with high demands for air cleanliness, oil content, and humidity control.

Over the past two years, orders from 4 to 5 electronics and semiconductor enterprises have accounted for approximately 30%–35% of Ingersoll Rand India's total order volume. As India's new wafer fabs, packaging and testing plants, and electronics manufacturing projects continue to advance, the company plans to further expand the supply of compressed air, utility systems, and supporting equipment, while simultaneously increasing the proportion of local manufacturing.

Ingersoll Rand has currently invested approximately USD 25 million in its Indian compressor business and is discussing an additional investment of USD 7–8 million, including the localization of key compressor components. The company operates 4 factories in India. Its latest factory, located in Sanand, Gujarat, was inaugurated in October 2025 with an investment of approximately 1.7 billion rupees and produces centrifugal compressors, refrigerated dryers, gas compressors, large reciprocating compressors, and nitrogen generation equipment.

The Sanand factory also supplies industries including semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, power, automotive, textiles, and defense. Ingersoll Rand plans to double the overall scale of its Indian compressor business over the next 3 to 4 years and regards semiconductors and electronics manufacturing as important growth directions for new equipment demand.
