RP Global Acquires 22.2 MWp Solar PV Project in Germany, Construction to Start in Early 2027

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 29, RP Global acquired the A6 Leiningerland solar PV project developed by German developer GAIA. The project is located in the Leiningerland area of the Bad Dürkheim district in Rhineland-Palatinate, comprising three adjacent ground-mounted solar PV sites in Hettenleidelheim, Tiefenthal, and Neuleiningen, with a total installed capacity of approximately 22.2 MWp and a site area of approximately 17.9 hectares. The project has obtained key permits and reached ready-to-build status, with construction planned to commence in early 2027 and commissioning in the second half of 2027.

The three sites are arranged along the A6 highway and will be connected to the grid through a shared grid connection point upon completion. As the project is located along an existing transportation infrastructure corridor, its land falls within a priority development area eligible for support under Germany's Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG). Following the transfer of project development rights to RP Global, the original developer GAIA will continue to participate in project optimization and subsequent implementation.

GAIA was responsible for development from the early planning stage of the project and advanced it to ready-to-build status after completing the relevant permitting procedures. Public project information shows that the early A6 Leiningerland plan had approximately 20.4 MWp of installed capacity, using approximately 34,000 600 Wp modules; the latest project scale disclosed in this transaction has been adjusted to approximately 22.2 MWp, indicating that capacity optimization was completed before the project entered construction.

RP Global also plans to add a battery energy storage system on top of the existing solar PV design. The company is currently working with GAIA to study the energy storage configuration, primarily to improve the ability to regulate solar PV output during periods of grid constraints. The project parties have not yet disclosed the energy storage power rating, storage duration, equipment suppliers, or specific investment scale, and the relevant configuration remains in the optimization stage.

Following the completion of this acquisition, RP Global disclosed that its German project pipeline under construction has increased to 87 MWp. In March of this year, the company also acquired two solar PV projects, Schöntal and Widdern in Baden-Württemberg, from Vattenfall, with a total installed capacity of approximately 15 MWp, of which the Schöntal project has already reached financial close. The A6 Leiningerland project is located in Rhineland-Palatinate and is another independent project through which RP Global continues to expand its solar PV assets in southwestern Germany.
