Exus Acquires 715 MW Solar Portfolio in the United States

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 29, Exus Renewables North America acquired four large-scale solar projects developed by ibV Energy Partners in Louisiana and Wisconsin, with a total installed capacity of approximately 715 MW. The projects include the two-phase Maple Grove Solar project in Barron County, Wisconsin, as well as Bayou Teche Solar and Bayou Chicot Solar in Louisiana. Exus will be responsible for subsequent construction and operation. The transaction amount was not disclosed.

Among them, Maple Grove Solar phases 1 and 2 have a combined capacity of 310 MW; Bayou Teche Solar is located in St. Mary Parish, Louisiana, with a capacity of 125 MW; Bayou Chicot Solar is located in Evangeline Parish, with a capacity of 280 MW. Following the acquisition of these projects, Exus's renewable energy project portfolio in the United States will nearly double in size.

These projects have already advanced their grid connection work ahead of schedule. ibV began applying approximately five years ago for the relevant projects to connect to the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) grid. Exus stated that the projects have relatively mature development conditions and can advance grid connection quickly in areas of Louisiana and Wisconsin where electricity demand is growing rapidly, making them the primary assets in this acquisition.

Exus is currently in negotiations with major technology companies and utility companies that supply power to data centers regarding power purchase arrangements, and expects to complete some power offtake agreements within the next 4 to 6 weeks. In recent years, both Louisiana and Wisconsin have seen accelerated deployment of data center projects. Exus plans to use the aforementioned solar projects as new power sources to supply electricity for data centers and local utility loads.

According to ibV's public project materials, Bayou Teche and Bayou Chicot were originally planned to begin construction in 2026; the Maple Grove projects were previously planned to enter the construction phase between 2026 and 2027. ibV's previously disclosed early-stage development figures were Bayou Teche 110 MWp, Bayou Chicot 240 MWp, and Maple Grove 180 MWp of solar paired with a 50 MW energy storage system. The capacities disclosed in this transaction use the latest project scale figures as of the time of Exus's acquisition.
