en.Wedoany.com Reported - Eagle Rock Partners is advancing the Big Woods Technology Park data center project in Jefferson Davis County, Mississippi, with a planned total investment of approximately $6 billion. The project is currently in the design and permitting preparation stage, and the developer expects construction could begin as early as 2027.

The project plans to build 3 data center buildings with a total floor area of approximately 2 million square feet. The latest local reports indicate that the project site is located near Gum Swamp Road, close to the Covington County border, with a total land area of approximately 800 acres.

The project plans to use a closed-loop cooling system, which the developer says will reduce water replenishment needs during operation. The power plan includes building natural gas power generation facilities on site, and the relevant power generation facilities must obtain approval from the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality before being put into operation.

Eagle Rock Partners estimates that the construction phase will provide more than 1,000 temporary construction jobs, and once built and operational, it will provide approximately 200 permanent jobs. The developer states that it currently does not plan to apply for local tax abatements or other incentives.

The land where the project is located is privately owned. Jefferson Davis County currently has no county-level zoning regulations, and the county government is in discussions with the developer regarding project-related arrangements. Eagle Rock Partners has held community information sessions to explain water use, power supply, noise, and project construction arrangements.
