en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 5, Vortex Energy Corp. commissioned Lonquist Field Service (Canada) to conduct a desktop geological study on the natural hydrogen and helium resource potential of the Robinsons River Salt Project in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The study will utilize existing geological, geophysical, and drilling data from the project to assess whether subsurface conditions are favorable for the generation, migration, and trapping of natural hydrogen and helium.

This round of study will not involve new drilling operations. Lonquist will first integrate existing data and compare the project's geological conditions with the generation environments, migration pathways, and trapping conditions required for natural hydrogen and helium systems. After completing the data assessment, Lonquist will provide recommendations for follow-up investigations, and Vortex Energy will determine whether to proceed with further exploration after reviewing the study results.

The Robinsons River Salt Project is wholly owned by Vortex Energy and is located approximately 35 kilometers south of Stephenville, covering approximately 23,500 hectares with a total of 942 mineral claims. The project has previously focused on exploration and engineering evaluation of subsurface salt bodies and salt cavern hydrogen storage conditions. A technical study completed in August 2026 integrated geological, seismic, gravity, and drilling data, confirming the western salt body structure and identifying further exploration targets in the eastern area.

This year, the project also completed an environmental noise tomography field survey, deploying a total of 188 passive seismometers covering approximately 335 square kilometers; the related data is being used in conjunction with drilling, seismic, and gravity data for 3D subsurface velocity modeling and geological interpretation. This natural hydrogen and helium study will build upon the aforementioned existing data.

Vortex Energy has not yet announced a completion date for this desktop study, nor has it produced any natural hydrogen or helium resource estimates. The company plans to announce follow-up work arrangements after Lonquist submits and completes the review of the study results.
