Environmental approval granted for the 13.7 MW photovoltaic and 13.2 MW wind project in Villamuriel, Spain
en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Junta de Castilla y León has issued a favorable environmental impact statement for the "hybrid renewable energy plant combining solar and wind power to supply a green hydrogen production plant" project. The project is promoted by Hidrógeno Verde Villamuriel, a company belonging to Univergy Solar.

The hybrid plant will supply renewable electricity to a green hydrogen production plant in Villamuriel de Cerrato (province of Palencia). The regional government's resolution concludes that the project will not produce significant environmental impacts and complies with current regulations.
The project comprises a 13.7 MWp photovoltaic plant and a 13.2 MW wind farm, both connected via a 30 kV underground line to the generation and distribution center of the future hydrogen plant. The Villamuriel wind farm (parque eólico Villamuriel) uses two Siemens Gamesa wind turbines of the Basque brand, model SG170-6.6, with a unit power of 6.6 MW, a rotor diameter of 170 meters, a hub height of 115 meters, and a total installed capacity of 13.2 MW.
The photovoltaic plant occupies 21.67 hectares, with a peak power of 13.7 MWp and a rated power of 12.36 MW. The project uses 26,152 modules of the Chinese brand Jinko, model JKM525M-7TL4-TV, bifacial, 525 W, forming 934 strings. It also includes 3 inverters rated at 4,200 kV and 3 transformer centers of 5,000 kVA, 30/0.66 kV, all housed in prefabricated cabins.
The infrastructure also includes a grid supply facility to power the hydrogen plant, consisting of a grid disconnection device and a 45 kV line. The line connects to a 2.75 MVA (45/30 kV) transformer center, designed to ensure the supply of renewable electricity to the electrolyzer.
In terms of spatial layout, the project does not overlap with the Natura 2000 network and is 450 meters from Special Area of Conservation (ZEC) ES4140082 "Riberas del Río Pisuerga y afluentes" (Banks of the Pisuerga River and its tributaries).
The Spanish-Japanese company Univergy Solar had planned to develop two 1 MW electrolysis plants in Castilla y León and Castilla-La Mancha. In addition, the company plans to deploy several hydrogen refueling stations in Spain, paired with multiple hydrogen production facilities, and has initiated the evaluation phase for other projects in Spain, Europe, Japan, and Latin America; Univergy Solar has operations in all these regions.
