EnerMech Awarded Pre-Commissioning Contract for Subsea Gas Project in Trinidad and Tobago

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 8, UK oilfield engineering services company EnerMech was awarded a pre-commissioning contract by Subsea7 for the Ginger subsea gas development project in Trinidad and Tobago, responsible for testing, flushing, water filling, hydrotesting, leak detection, and commissioning support for subsea pipelines and production systems. The project is operated by BP, with plans to build 4 subsea production wells and achieve first gas in 2027.

EnerMech's scope of work covers subsea pipeline flushing, water filling, hydrotesting, and leak detection, and provides supporting services during the installation and commissioning phases of the subsea production system. The company will deploy equipment already stationed in the Caribbean region and organize local personnel from Trinidad and Tobago to work alongside international pipeline and subsea engineering teams to execute the contract.

The Ginger gas field is located approximately 80 kilometers offshore southeast of Trinidad, with a maximum operating water depth of approximately 90 meters. The project consists of 4 subsea production wells and associated subsea production facilities, with wellhead output to be tied back via subsea pipelines to the existing Mahogany B platform. BP discovered the gas field in 2019 and approved development in March 2025, with planned peak daily production of approximately 62,000 barrels of oil equivalent.

In April 2025, BP awarded the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation contract for the Ginger project to the Subsea Integration Alliance formed by Subsea7 and SLB OneSubsea. Subsea7 is responsible for the diver-installed subsea connection system, flexible production pipelines, and related facilities; SLB OneSubsea is responsible for supplying 4 sets of vertical single-bore subsea trees, tubing hangers, and high-integrity pressure protection system manifolds.

The pre-commissioning order obtained by EnerMech this time is a specialized service under the aforementioned subsea engineering contract. After the installation and testing of the project's subsea production facilities are completed, it will enter the subsequent system commissioning and operational readiness phase.
