en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 16, DP World announced that it has deployed 55 electric terminal tractors at its operated terminal at the Port of Busan, South Korea, replacing the existing liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered vehicles. The terminal's current terminal tractor fleet totals 154 units, with the newly deployed electric vehicles accounting for approximately 36%. According to the group's estimates, each electric terminal tractor is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 70% compared with the LNG tractors it replaces.

DP World has deployed 55 electric yard tractors at its Busan terminal in South Korea, replacing the existing LNG-powered vehicles.

The electric tractors put into service handle internal container transfer operations at the terminal, primarily connecting the yard with other container handling areas. The vehicles are electrically driven and are suited to the terminal's operating conditions of frequent starting, stopping and short-distance shuttling. DP World stated that the new vehicles offer improved acceleration smoothness, operating noise and power performance under start-stop conditions, while also reducing engine oil and fluid usage and waste fluid disposal requirements.

The Busan terminal participates in South Korea's carbon emissions trading system, and this equipment upgrade has been incorporated into the terminal's operational emissions reduction efforts. Compared with LNG-powered vehicles, the electric terminal tractors have fewer mechanical transmission and engine maintenance components, and the group expects daily maintenance requirements for the relevant vehicles to decrease.

DP World plans to continue expanding the use of electric equipment at the Busan terminal. The group has previously carried out similar port equipment electrification deployments at the Port of Brisbane in Australia, the South Harbor in Manila, the Philippines, and the Laem Chabang International Terminal in Thailand.
