Peru launches road improvement project of over 106 million soles covering 65.1 kilometers

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 16, the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Peru announced the launch, through its subordinate local roads management agency Provías Descentralizado, of the HU-101 provincial road improvement project in the Huánuco Region. The project involves an investment of more than 106 million Peruvian soles, a construction length of 65.1 kilometers, and the construction of two permanent bridges, and is expected to serve 9,936 local residents. The works are located in Huamalíes Province, connecting areas including Carpa, Tantamayo, Chavín de Pariarca, Queropata, San Antonio and Vista Alegre, with the route extending to the Culquish Bridge at its endpoint.

The road improvement adopts an asphalt slurry seal pavement solution, with construction covering the entire 65.1-kilometer route. The bridge works include the construction of the new Shiuri Bridge and Gotan Bridge, both of which are to be built as permanent structures and are incorporated into this road improvement project.

Drainage and protection works along the route include 35 kilometers of triangular and rectangular concrete side ditches, the construction and replacement of 264 culverts, and the construction of 59 concrete retaining walls. The drainage facilities and retaining walls will be installed along the road improvement section and implemented in parallel with the pavement works and bridge construction.

The project involves three administrative districts, namely Jacas Grande, Chavín de Pariarca and Tantamayo, and is organized and implemented by the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Peru through Provías Descentralizado. Once completed, the road will serve local residents' travel as well as the transport of local agricultural products and other goods.
