en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 22, UK-listed mining company URU Metals announced that its South African subsidiary Lesego Platinum Uitloop has formally signed a contract for the next phase of drilling at the Zeb nickel project in Limpopo Province, with the drilling contractor scheduled to mobilize on site by November 2 and drilling operations expected to commence around November 9. The first phase of drilling will focus on the Zone 2 mineralized area to obtain drill core data on nickel, copper and platinum group metal mineralization, providing the basis for preparing the first mineral resource estimate for this area.

The signing of this contract marks further progress following the completion of the drilling contractor selection process in September. URU Metals previously selected Zaaiman Exploration Drilling to undertake the Zone 2 drilling task. The contractor has previously carried out diamond drilling at the Zeb project and is familiar with local geological conditions and on-site construction requirements. With the contract signed, the project has entered the equipment mobilization and drilling preparation stage, and formal construction remains subject to completion of site preparation and occupational health and safety requirements.

Drill hole locations were determined based on the completed Leapfrog 3D geological model. The model integrates historical drill holes, airborne magnetic surveys, gravity surveys and electromagnetic exploration data, with a focus on delineating the existing mineralized zone and its extensions in Zone 2. According to the established drilling plan, the contractor will first infill drill holes in the existing mineralized area, then advance toward peripheral areas with lower levels of geological control to test the continuity of nickel, copper and platinum group metal mineralization.

URU Metals had also previously identified Ground FDEM Target 1 as an early drilling target. This target corresponds to an area where ground electromagnetic anomalies and gravity anomalies overlap, and drilling is planned to verify the presence of semi-massive to massive nickel-copper-platinum group metal sulfide mineralization. The company has not yet disclosed in its October 22 announcement the value of this drilling contract, the total number of drill holes, the planned meterage or the construction timeline.
