en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 22, Williams, a U.S. energy infrastructure operator, is advancing a natural gas pipeline network expansion plan in the northwest and proposes to build the Silver Spur natural gas pipeline project. The pipeline, approximately 141 kilometers in length, will connect existing natural gas transmission systems in Nevada and Idaho, with a planned incremental daily transmission capacity of approximately 275 million cubic feet (approximately 7.79 million cubic meters). The project has entered the pre-filing review process of the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and is planned to begin construction in the first quarter of 2029 and enter operation in the second quarter of 2030.

The Silver Spur pipeline is proposed to extend north from an existing gas transmission line in Elko County, Nevada, to connect with the Northwest Pipeline system in Twin Falls County, Idaho. In addition to constructing approximately 87.8 miles of new gas transmission pipeline, the project also includes equipment upgrades at the existing Mountain Home and Buhl compressor stations, retirement of some older units, construction of a new compressor station, and construction of metering facilities at pipeline interconnection points.

Williams has initiated the project pre-filing process and plans to formally submit an application for a natural gas pipeline construction permit in the second quarter of 2027. Once completed, the project will increase natural gas transmission capacity from the Rocky Mountain region to Idaho and the U.S. Pacific Northwest market and will use the existing pipeline network for regional gas source allocation.

Silver Spur is also part of Williams' larger regional pipeline network expansion plan. Related proposals include constructing approximately 160 miles of pipeline along the Washington side of the Columbia River and building the approximately 137-mile Valley Trail pipeline in Grant County, Washington. Under the overall plan currently proposed, these projects together could add nearly 1 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas transmission capacity in the U.S. Northwest. The related pipelines other than Silver Spur remain in the early planning stage.
