en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 25, the urea production plant of Jamuna Fertilizer Company Limited in Jamalpur District, Bangladesh, suspended production again due to insufficient natural gas supply. The plant has a designed daily urea production capacity of 1,700 tons. It had just completed repairs of a boiler failure and resumed production on October 23, but stopped production at 5 a.m. on October 25 after operating for only two days. Fazlul Haque, head of the plant's production department, confirmed that the natural gas supply cannot meet the requirements for continuous operation of the facility, and that resumption of production depends on gas supply conditions.

The natural gas required by the Jamuna Fertilizer Factory is supplied by Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company. Since the beginning of this year, the plant has been continuously affected by natural gas shortages and equipment failures. After gas supply was restored on September 20, the facility still delayed startup due to insufficient gas supply pressure; after production resumed in early October, it was shut down again due to a boiler failure. After about two weeks of repairs, the plant restarted production at 10 a.m. on October 23. According to the latest local reports, a total of approximately 1,600 tons of urea was produced during this brief operating period, which has not yet reached the production level corresponding to the designed capacity.

The plant supplies urea through approximately 1,900 dealers registered with Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation to 21 districts, covering agricultural areas such as Jamalpur, Sherpur, Mymensingh and Tangail. Under normal gas supply conditions, the plant can produce fertilizer worth about 2 billion taka per month. The production department stated that urea production will be restarted once natural gas supply is restored to the level required for normal operation of the facility.
