US-based Edgecombe Furniture Invests $3.85 Million to Expand Furniture Factory

The project will add 56,260 square feet (approximately 5,227 square meters) of production and operations space and create at least 10 jobs. The expansion has received an $80,000 building reuse grant approved by the North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority, primarily for renovating existing factory facilities and expanding production and operations space.

The expansion project is located at 310 Staton Road in Greenville. Edgecombe Furniture purchased the 140,000-square-foot (approximately 13,000-square-meter) factory at this site in 2017, and this expansion will add production and operations space to the existing facility. The company primarily manufactures custom furniture for hotels, resorts, and other commercial spaces, with products including lounge chairs, dining chairs, sofas, and other upholstered seating, supplying furniture products to hotel brands such as Hilton and Marriott.

The North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority approved the $80,000 building reuse grant for the project on October 15, with funds supporting the Greenville factory expansion and upgrades to existing buildings. The Pitt County Board of Commissioners approved local matching support on October 2, including local matching funds equivalent to 5% of the grant amount. The North Carolina Department of Commerce's economic development partner organization is responsible for project coordination, while the Pitt County Economic Development department manages the grant project.
