en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 26, SWI Compute, an artificial intelligence infrastructure company under SWI Group, announced plans to build an AI computing factory in Cambridge, UK. The first phase is planned for 30 MW of capacity and is intended to be equipped with nearly 7,000 NVIDIA Rubin graphics processing units and 3,500 Vera central processing units, using the Vera Rubin NVL72 rack system, with the goal of commencing operations by the end of 2027. The project is the company's first large-scale project for deploying AI computing infrastructure in Europe.

The first-phase computing system will adopt the NVIDIA Vera Rubin DSX AI Factory reference design, integrating computing equipment, network interconnection, power supply and distribution, and cooling systems into a unified architecture. GPUs and CPUs will be connected through Quantum-X800 InfiniBand and Spectrum-X Ethernet systems, supporting large-scale AI model training, inference, simulation, and scientific computing tasks. SWI Compute plans to adopt this reference design in new data center projects starting in 2027.

The company has ordered approximately USD 1 billion worth of NVIDIA computing systems and has selected Delta Computers to undertake system integration. The first batch of deployments will use Blackwell Ultra computing systems, followed by the introduction of Vera CPU racks, with plans to deliver more than 8,000 GPUs. The related equipment procurement covers SWI Compute's AI infrastructure deployment plan, while the first UK project will use the Vera Rubin system configuration.

The Cambridge project will be expanded in phases. The construction plan released by SWI Group on October 26 sets the long-term capacity of the UK campus at 530 MW, while the long-term scale listed on the company's project website is 500 MW. The group plans to deploy a total of 2.3 GW of AI computing factory capacity in Europe by 2029. SWI Group currently has power capacity resources totaling up to 3.6 GW at 24 sites in Europe and the United States, with its European campuses located in the UK, Ireland, Denmark, Spain, and Italy.
