Over 70% of Equipment for Ukraine's Autostrada Kyiv Metro Shield Machine Has Arrived

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 22, the Ukrainian contractor Autostrada confirmed that over 70% of the new equipment for the "Victoria" shield machine required for the Kyiv metro extension to Vynohradar has been delivered to the construction site, and multiple key mechanical and electrical systems have been installed. The equipment set, manufactured by Germany's Herrenknecht, represents an investment of more than EUR 15 million and is planned for use in the left-line tunnel construction of the section between Syrets Station and Mostytska Station. The project is currently in the equipment assembly phase.

Components installed so far include the operator control console, reducers, belt conveyor, working platform, power transformer, electrical cabinets, water pumps, cutterhead drive motors, cooling system, and hydraulic oil tank. The related equipment will be used for the mechanical drive, power supply, hydraulic, and control systems of the new shield machine.

The "Galyna" shield machine previously acquired by Autostrada was inspected by Herrenknecht technicians, and approximately 99% of its equipment was found unsuitable for continued use, with critical automation, electrical, and hydraulic components missing. The contractor subsequently decided to procure new shield equipment to replace the original equipment for construction of this metro section.

According to the construction plan, the new shield machine will commence tunnel boring after equipment assembly and commissioning are completed. The formal construction phase will adopt round-the-clock operations, with an expected deployment of more than 100 professionals, including shield operators, installation personnel, surveyors, and supporting construction staff.
