en.Wedoany.com Reported - Bolivia's state telecommunications company Entel has launched the modernization of its mobile communications network in the 850 MHz band in the Department of La Paz, gradually replacing the existing 3G network operating configuration in this band and reallocating the spectrum resources to strengthen GSM and 4G LTE services. The upgrade involves the existing mobile access network in the Department of La Paz, focusing on adjusting radio spectrum use and network technology configurations to enhance mobile broadband capacity and connectivity performance. The project launch date has been confirmed by Bolivia's Ministry of Public Works, Services and Housing.

This network adjustment adopts a spectrum refarming approach, reallocating the frequency resources previously used for 3G services in the 850 MHz band to the existing mobile communications systems. Entel's upgrade plan involves both GSM and LTE technologies, focusing on adjusting the radio access configuration in this band and gradually phasing out the existing 3G service operation.

On October 26, Bolivia's Ministry of Public Works, Services and Housing further confirmed the upgrade arrangements. Entel General Manager Jorge Francisco del Solar stated that the operator is advancing the mobile network update to increase network capacity and improve user connectivity quality. The company has initiated device migration for existing 3G users and recommends that users with 3G-only devices switch to equipment compatible with 4G LTE or higher standards.

This spectrum adjustment is being implemented first in the Department of La Paz. Entel will carry out the 3G service replacement under the existing local network conditions and notify users of the subsequent implementation schedule in accordance with the upgrade arrangements. Existing 4G and higher-standard devices can continue to use mobile communications services.
