en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 27, Swiss WorldCargo completed the inaugural cargo flight from Zurich to Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) in Bengaluru, India, marking the carrier's first provision of cargo capacity in South India. The route operates five times weekly using Airbus A330 aircraft and is incorporated into the 2026/27 winter flight schedule, with service planned through March 27, 2027.

Eastbound LX 140 departs Zurich at 13:20 local time and arrives in Bengaluru at 02:55 the following day; westbound LX 141 departs Bengaluru at 04:50 and arrives in Zurich at 10:50 the same day. The five-times-weekly frequency covers weekdays, creating an every-other-day cargo rhythm between Bengaluru and Zurich rather than capacity being offered only on a fixed day of the week.

The belly-hold cargo capacity of the A330 determines the payload scale of this route. Swiss WorldCargo's A330-300 can carry up to 29 tonnes of cargo in an all-cargo configuration, corresponding to a loading combination of 11 pallets or 30 LD3 containers. This capacity level corresponds to batch shipment demand for high-value, time-sensitive goods rather than large-volume, low-urgency cargo categories. The Bengaluru route uses the belly hold of A330 passenger aircraft, where cargo shares the lower-deck space with passenger baggage; actual available cargo tonnage depends on the number of passengers and baggage volume on each flight, and the carrier has not disclosed the specific cargo allocation for this route.

Kempegowda International Airport handled 532,000 tonnes of cargo in fiscal year 2025-26, up 6% year on year. The airport is India's third busiest, with international cargo growing faster than overall growth. Target cargo categories listed by Swiss WorldCargo include: pharmaceuticals and healthcare (medicines, vaccines, temperature-controlled goods), electronics and high-tech (components, semiconductors, consumer electronics), automotive and industrial manufacturing (spare parts, time-critical components), textiles and fashion, and some perishables (fresh produce and flowers). These cargo categories correspond to export demand generated by the established technology and manufacturing clusters in Bengaluru and surrounding areas.

This route complements Swiss WorldCargo's existing India network. The company previously connected Zurich with Mumbai and Delhi through daily flights; Bengaluru is its third cargo destination in India and the first located in South India. From a network structure perspective, Mumbai and Delhi cover western and northern India, while Bengaluru covers the southern technology and manufacturing belt; together the three points form Swiss WorldCargo's cargo gateway portfolio in India, rather than Bengaluru replacing or diverting traffic from existing destinations.
