en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 27, Ethiopian Airlines launched a passenger route from Addis Ababa to Nacala, Mozambique, operating three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The inaugural flight departed from Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, operated by a Boeing 737-800, and landed at Nacala International Airport at 14:25 local time the same day. Nacala thus becomes Ethiopian Airlines' third destination in Mozambique, after Maputo and Beira.

The route operates via Blantyre, Malawi, rather than as a point-to-point nonstop service. The flight schedule is as follows: ET875 departs Addis Ababa at 09:20, arrives in Blantyre at 12:15; departs Blantyre at 13:15, arrives in Nacala at 14:20; departs Nacala at 15:10, and returns to Addis Ababa at 20:05.

Nacala is a seaport city in Nampula Province in northern Mozambique, and its port serves as the maritime outlet of the Nacala Corridor. The corridor is linked by an approximately 900-kilometer railway to the Moatize coal mining area in Tete Province, Mozambique, crossing Malawi and terminating at the deep-water port of Nacala, with an annual coal transport capacity of approximately 18 million tonnes. The new route connects to a port collection and distribution system that is based on mineral exports and is expanding toward integrated logistics.

The Nacala route increases its destinations in Mozambique from 2 to 3, covering three regions: Maputo in the south, Beira in the center, and Nacala in the north.
