Germany's Rohde & Schwarz Announces HMP5050 Five-Channel DC Power Supply
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On November 2, German electronic test and measurement equipment manufacturer Rohde & Schwarz announced the new R&S HMP5050 five-channel DC power supply, with its first public display planned at electronica 2026 in Munich, Germany, from November 10 to 13. The device features five interconnectable output channels, with a maximum output power of 180 watts per channel and a total output power limit of 560 watts, targeting electronic R&D, industrial production testing, and multi-circuit power supply applications. The company plans to officially launch the product in spring 2027.

All five output channels of the HMP5050 are independently configurable, with each channel supporting up to 35 V output voltage and 15 A output current, with residual ripple below 350 µV RMS. Compared with existing HMP series products, the new model increases channel density and power density and improves output residual ripple specifications. The device can simultaneously supply different power conditions to multiple electronic components and circuits, and the output parameters of each channel can be set separately according to the test task, though both per-channel and overall output must comply with the respective power limits.
The device supports series and parallel operation of output channels. When users need to increase output voltage, multiple channels can be connected in series; when increased output current is required, a parallel configuration can be used. Different channels can also be combined according to the electrical requirements of the device under test, enabling a single instrument to accommodate electronic system test tasks with multiple power supply requirements.
For test systems requiring more power supply channels, Rohde & Schwarz offers multi-device connection and centralized control functionality for the HMP5050. Multiple power supplies can be connected and automatically synchronized, supporting up to 64 power supply channels, with a central control system separately managing and analyzing the operating status of each channel. This configuration is suitable for automated production test systems that need to test multiple electronic components, circuits, or devices under test simultaneously, and overall power supply capacity can be expanded by adding connected devices.
Rohde & Schwarz plans to demonstrate the HMP5050's multi-channel power supply and channel interconnection capabilities at electronica 2026 in Hall A4, Booth 307. The live demonstration will use a test setup to present how a single power supply simultaneously powers multiple electronic components and circuits, and will showcase series and parallel configurations between channels. The demonstrations are part of the announced exhibition schedule and had not yet taken place as of November 4.
According to the company's announced market launch plan, the HMP5050 will be sold through Rohde & Schwarz and designated distribution partners in spring 2027, at which time it will join the existing R&S HMP2000 and R&S HMP4000 series to form the HMP DC power supply product portfolio.
