Bourbon France Receives First 34-Meter Offshore Personnel Transport Vessel
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On November 4, French marine services company Bourbon announced that it had taken delivery of the first of two next-generation 34-meter offshore personnel transport vessels from Grandweld Shipyards in Dubai, UAE. The vessel was delivered on November 3, following the completion of sea trials. Both new vessels are designed for the transport of offshore oil and gas personnel, each capable of carrying 60 passengers with a maximum speed of 38 knots. The delivery is part of Bourbon's offshore personnel transport fleet renewal program.

The new vessel is 34 meters long and features a business-class passenger seating layout, improving onboard comfort while enhancing personnel transport capacity. Compared with the previous-generation 32-meter personnel transport vessel, the new vessel offers improved fuel efficiency. An Electronic Fuel Monitoring System (EFMS) was integrated during construction to monitor fuel consumption and assist in optimizing operational efficiency, while increased redundancy of key equipment improves vessel operational reliability.
The vessel also features 18 square meters of deck space and a designated passenger luggage storage area. The wheelhouse has been redesigned to improve visibility and operational ergonomics; a satellite communication system connects the vessel and its equipment with Bourbon's shore-based team, enabling shore personnel to access vessel operational information and providing communication and operational support for offshore personnel transport missions.
Following this delivery, the second vessel of the same type will progressively join the fleet, gradually replacing some previous-generation vessels. The company stated that the new vessel offers better fuel efficiency than the 32-meter vessel type.
Bourbon currently operates 153 vessels across more than 30 countries, providing marine transport and engineering support services to the offshore oil and gas and wind power industries. The renewal with these two 34-meter personnel transport vessels is primarily intended to strengthen its offshore crew transfer capability and improve vessel operational efficiency.
