Canada's Copper Road applies for permit for 6,000-metre copper-gold drilling
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On November 5, Canadian mining company Copper Road Resources formally submitted an application to the Ontario Ministry of Mines for an early-stage exploration drilling permit for its Ben Nevis volcanic complex project, planning to carry out its first diamond drilling program totaling 6,000 metres across approximately 7 exploration targets, with about 20 drill holes expected to be laid out. The project is located in the Kirkland Lake to Larder Lake area of northeastern Ontario, Canada, and the drilling targets include gold-rich volcanogenic massive sulfide mineralization systems and Archean porphyry copper-gold mineralization systems.

This round of drilling will focus on testing the deep high-conductivity anomalies identified by the previous MobileMT airborne geophysical survey. The proposed drilling area is located in the Blake River Group of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt. The project's consolidated mining claims comprise 226 claim units covering 11,264 hectares, plus 13 adjacent mining rights patents covering approximately 210 hectares. The company plans to use the drilling results to verify the relationship between the deep conductive anomalies and copper, gold and other metal mineralization.
The permit application was submitted after Copper Road signed an exploration agreement with the Matachewan First Nation community. Under the agreement, the Matachewan First Nation community will provide a letter of support to the Ontario Ministry of Mines for the proposed drilling program. The company is also continuing consultations with the Apitipi Anicinapek First Nation community to advance the signing of another exploration agreement.
Copper Road has engaged Sigma Wolf Solutions to provide First Nation community communication and consultation services, with Nicole Charbonneau responsible for the related work. The permit review will involve consultation with First Nation communities and the public, and the company plans to continue community communication, on-site monitoring and reporting during the exploration period.
Mark Goodman, interim President and Chief Executive Officer of Copper Road, said the company has funds in place for this round of exploration and plans to commence drilling after obtaining the formal permit from the Ontario Ministry of Mines. Specific drill hole layout and construction arrangements will be further determined as the permit is approved.
