Wedoany.com Report-Jul. 21, Since July 1, 2025, Evonik’s Coating & Adhesive Resins business line, based in Marl, Germany, has transitioned its polybutadiene production to green electricity. This step supports the company’s sustainability goals, targeting a 25% reduction in scope 1 and 2 emissions from 2021 to 2030, as part of its broader environmental strategy.

Saskia Jaworski, Sustainability Business Manager for POLYVEST®, stated: “We are excited to help our customers make their products more sustainable on the path to Net Zero. For us, a reduced CO2 footprint is a true added value for the product.” The shift to green electricity for both POLYVEST® production facilities in Marl marks a significant milestone in enhancing the sustainability of these products.

Evonik has progressively introduced all POLYVEST® grades as eCO variants, which are mass-balanced products certified under the ISCC Plus standard. These variants reflect the company’s commitment to reducing the environmental impact of its manufacturing processes while maintaining product quality. POLYVEST® liquid polybutadienes, known for their versatile chemical compositions and high reactivity, are used across industries such as automotive, construction, and electronics.

Starting in 2025, Evonik will implement several Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) to further secure sustainable energy sources, reinforcing its dedication to environmentally responsible production. This initiative aligns with the company’s efforts to integrate renewable energy into its operations, supporting both its sustainability targets and customer demand for eco-friendly solutions.

The adoption of green electricity for POLYVEST® production in Marl enhances the environmental profile of Evonik’s products, offering customers sustainable options without compromising performance. This move strengthens the company’s position as a leader in sustainable chemical manufacturing, contributing to a reduced carbon footprint across multiple industries.
