Wedoany.com Report-Aug. 13, Peru has advanced its renewable energy infrastructure with the commissioning of the Anashironi Hydropower Plant in the Junín region. This project, an expansion of the existing Renovandes H1 facility, adds 21.2 MW of capacity to the regional grid while utilizing the same water conveyance system, operating independently to enhance efficiency.

The Anashironi plant features a vertical 5-jet Pelton turbine, designed for a net head of 302.9 meters and a flow rate of 7.85 cubic meters per second. The facility includes a 23 MVA synchronous generator, a hydraulic power unit, an inlet valve, control systems, and two transformers for grid integration. This setup ensures high efficiency and reliable power generation.

A key aspect of the project is its integration with existing infrastructure, which minimizes the need for new construction and reduces environmental impact. By leveraging the Renovandes H1 system, Anashironi demonstrates a sustainable approach to expanding hydropower capacity while maintaining ecological considerations.

GUGLER Water Turbines GmbH provided the complete electromechanical package for the plant and successfully commissioned it earlier this year. The company’s expertise contributed to the project’s timely completion and operational success, reinforcing Peru’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions.

The Anashironi Hydropower Plant exemplifies how modern hydropower projects can combine advanced technology with efficient use of existing resources. Its design prioritizes sustainability, aligning with Peru’s broader goals to expand renewable energy capacity and reduce reliance on non-renewable sources. The plant’s contribution to the regional grid supports local energy needs while promoting environmental stewardship.

This project strengthens Peru’s position in the renewable energy sector, showcasing innovative approaches to hydropower development. By integrating cutting-edge equipment with existing infrastructure, Anashironi sets a model for future projects aiming to balance energy production with minimal environmental disruption.
