Wedoany.com Report-Oct. 9, On Thursday, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), an Indian multinational, announced that its hydrocarbon onshore business secured an ultra-mega order, valued over INR 15,000 crore, to establish a Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) plant and associated facilities in the Middle East. This significant contract underscores L&T’s expertise in large-scale energy infrastructure projects.
The project is a collaboration with Consolidated Contractors Group S.A.L. (Offshore) (CCC), headquartered in Greece. L&T will lead engineering and procurement efforts, while CCC will oversee construction activities. The scope includes engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning of the NGL plant, processing Rich Associated Gas (RAG) from offshore and onshore oil fields. The work also covers utilities, off-site facilities, and integration with existing infrastructure.
S N Subrahmanyan, Chairman and Managing Director of L&T, stated: “The ultra-mega order reaffirms L&T's position as a trusted partner in delivering mega energy infrastructure. It underscores our growing global footprint and ability to execute projects of high complexity in partnership with leading players like CCC.”
The NGL plant will treat RAG to remove impurities such as hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide, and water, producing valuable products including lean sales gas, ethane, propane, butane, and hydrocarbon condensate. These outputs enhance the usability of natural gas resources, supporting energy needs in the region.
Subramanian Sarma, Deputy Managing Director and President, remarked: “This project is not just about scale but is also about bringing in advanced engineering, long-term reliability measures and complex brownfield interfaces to deliver value-added products.” Sarma emphasized that the contract strengthens L&T’s role in advancing energy security and fosters deeper ties with global oil and gas companies through high-quality project execution.
The initiative highlights L&T’s capability to manage intricate energy projects, combining advanced engineering with robust partnerships. The collaboration with CCC ensures efficient division of responsibilities, leveraging L&T’s technical expertise and CCC’s construction proficiency to deliver the facility on schedule.
This order reinforces L&T’s expanding presence in the global energy sector, showcasing its ability to handle sophisticated infrastructure projects. The NGL plant will contribute to the efficient processing of natural gas resources, supporting the energy demands of the Middle East while promoting sustainable resource utilization.
The project’s focus on advanced engineering and integration with existing facilities demonstrates a commitment to operational reliability and environmental responsibility. By producing high-value gas products, the facility will enhance the region’s energy infrastructure, aligning with industry needs for efficient and sustainable solutions. L&T’s leadership in this venture positions it as a key player in the global energy market, fostering innovation and collaboration.
