Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 3, Vietnam’s cement industry recorded strong growth in September 2025, with total cement dispatches rising 11 per cent year-on-year (YoY) to 5.42Mt, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). VICEM delivered 1.45Mt, up 17 per cent YoY, while other VNCA members reported a nine per cent YoY increase to 0.94Mt. Non-member producers also posted a nine per cent YoY rise to 3.03Mt.
Export volumes saw a notable expansion of 62 per cent YoY to 3.20Mt. Clinker exports surged 95 per cent to 1.33Mt, while cement exports increased 45 per cent to 1.87Mt. VICEM members reported clinker exports of 156,900t, with cement exports at 203,050t, down 27 per cent YoY. Other VNCA members recorded 12,762t of clinker exports, down three per cent YoY, and 208,120t of cement exports, up 123 per cent YoY. Non-members achieved a 77 per cent YoY increase in clinker exports to 1.16Mt and a 66 per cent YoY rise in cement exports to 1.46Mt.
From January to September 2025, Vietnam’s total cement dispatches reached 55.27Mt, up 16.7 per cent YoY. VICEM’s domestic sales rose 17.2 per cent to 14.92Mt, while other VNCA members increased by 12.9 per cent to 9.66Mt. Non-member domestic dispatches grew 16.1 per cent YoY to 30.69Mt.
Exports during the same period increased 17 per cent YoY to 26.44Mt, supported by strong clinker and cement shipments. Clinker exports rose 39 per cent to 10.63Mt, while cement exports grew six per cent to 15.81Mt. VICEM’s clinker exports declined 42 per cent YoY to 445,460t, and cement exports also fell 42 per cent to 1.205Mt. Other VNCA members reported clinker exports of 285,168t, slightly down one per cent YoY, and cement exports of 2.19Mt, down nine per cent YoY. Non-members, however, saw strong growth, with clinker exports rising 50 per cent to 9.90Mt and cement exports increasing 19 per cent to 12.42Mt.
The Philippines and the United States were the largest cement export markets during the first nine months of 2025, each accounting for about 3.8Mt. Singapore followed with around 1.4Mt, along with notable shipments to Honduras, South Africa, and Malaysia. Bangladesh remained the leading destination for clinker, importing roughly 4.8Mt, followed by Côte d’Ivoire at about 2Mt, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Malaysia.
Driven by solid domestic consumption and export performance, Vietnam is on track to become the world’s third-largest cement producer in 2025, surpassing the United States for the first time. China is expected to remain the largest producer, followed by India. Vietnam will also maintain its position as the world’s leading cement exporter and the third-largest clinker exporter, behind Indonesia and Egypt.
