Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 24, Senegal’s cement market showed steady performance through the third quarter of 2025, according to data from the Ministry of Planned Economy and Cooperation.

In August 2025, domestic cement consumption reached 510,500 tonnes, a modest increase of 0.9 per cent compared with 505,900 tonnes in August 2024. The upward trend continued in September, when sales rose 4.1 per cent year-on-year to 499,700 tonnes from 480,200 tonnes.

Local production expanded significantly during the period. August output grew 10.2 per cent to 713,100 tonnes from 647,000 tonnes the previous year, while September production increased 5.1 per cent to 644,400 tonnes from 613,400 tonnes.

Strong export demand contributed to the higher production levels. Cement exports surged 43.6 per cent year-on-year in August to 198,900 tonnes and rose 40.1 per cent in September to 151,700 tonnes, compared with 138,500 tonnes and 108,300 tonnes respectively in 2024.

For the first nine months of 2025, total domestic cement sales advanced 3.2 per cent to 5.554 million tonnes from 5.384 million tonnes in the corresponding period of 2024.

Domestic production during January–September 2025 reached 6.902 million tonnes, slightly lower than the 6.957 million tonnes recorded in the same period of the previous year.

Export volumes for the nine-month period totalled 1.464 million tonnes, reflecting a moderated decline of 5.9 per cent compared with 1.555 million tonnes exported in the first nine months of 2024. The recent monthly gains have helped offset earlier reductions, demonstrating improved overseas demand for Senegalese cement throughout the year.

The combination of stable domestic consumption and robust export growth has supported overall industry activity, with producers effectively utilising available capacity to meet both local requirements and international orders.
