Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 27, Moeve has received the BASF Award for Best Circular Economy Practice in Spain (large company category) for its Recycled Flexitank Project in chemical product transportation. The award, organised by BASF and the Club of Excellence in Sustainability, recognises outstanding initiatives that strengthen business competitiveness through circular economy principles and environmentally responsible practices.

The honour was accepted by Elena Alcalde, Supply Chain and Procurement Director of Moeve’s Chemical Business. She stated: “This recognition acknowledges the work we are carrying out at Moeve through our Positive Motion strategy to drive decarbonization and sustainability across all industrial processes—from the start of production to the logistical transport to our customers.” She added that the BASF Award “serves as motivation and encouragement for all of us working in Moeve’s chemical business to continue striving and advancing in the development of our Next range of sustainable chemical products.”

Developed jointly with DHL, the project introduces an innovative flexitank packaging system that incorporates 17.5 percent recycled polyethylene sourced from production waste generated within Moeve’s own manufacturing process. The new design also consumes 18 percent less polymer compared with conventional flexitanks, resulting in a lower carbon footprint and reduced environmental impact while maintaining full performance and safety standards.

The recycled flexitank is already in commercial use for maritime shipments of linear alkylbenzene (LAB), the core raw material for biodegradable detergents. Moeve remains the world’s leading producer of LAB, supplying both household and industrial detergent manufacturers globally.

By integrating recycled content and optimising material usage, the initiative advances circular economy objectives throughout the chemical supply chain, from production to final delivery. The project demonstrates practical, scalable solutions for reducing resource consumption and waste in bulk liquid logistics without compromising product quality or transport efficiency.
