Wedoany.com Report-Dec.13, Chlorum Solutions USA LLC, headquartered in Chicago, announced on December 13, 2025, the signing of a definitive agreement to purchase Eddyville Chlor-Alkali, LLC (ECA), a subsidiary of Cargill, Inc., based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The facility is situated in Eddyville, Iowa, with the transaction scheduled to complete in the second quarter of 2026.

ECA manages a modern chlor-alkali production site that manufactures sodium hypochlorite, hydrochloric acid, and caustic soda, utilizing advanced membrane technology.

Chlorum's operational strategy emphasizes locating production nearer to customer markets. This approach reduces transportation-related expenses and potential disruptions while enhancing supply consistency for users. The Eddyville plant currently supplies several Cargill sites and nearby industrial customers, aligning closely with Chlorum's regional focus.

"Safety and efficiency are top priorities," said Daniel Croce, CEO of Chlorum Solutions USA. "The Eddyville facility is a key supplier to manufacturers across the Midwest, and is committed to preserving and strengthening that role. Our team brings extensive experience in operating chlor-alkali plants and we will invest in the plant's long-term performance to ensure the region continues to have reliable local access to these essential products. All current employees will remain in their roles, maintaining continuity for customers and the strong culture of safety that Cargill established at this site."

Affiliated entities of Chlorum have established and manage compact chlor-alkali units in Brazil and Uruguay, operating six sites with two additional plants currently in the startup phase.

"We are confident Chlorum is the right company to take forward Cargill's chlor-alkali business in Eddyville because of our shared focus on customers, employees, safety and environmental stewardship. We look forward to partnering at this co-location," said Daryn Kracht, Managing Director, Starches, Sweeteners & Texturizers, Cargill Food NA. "Cargill remains deeply committed to the Eddyville community as we continue to operate our starch plant there and to the state of Iowa, with over 1,800 employees at 12 locations in the state."

The acquisition follows Chlorum's earlier declaration in December 2024 regarding its initial United States facility in Casa Grande, Arizona. That project involves an investment exceeding $70 million dedicated to secure, market-proximate chlor-alkali manufacturing. The Arizona development represented the company's entry into the U.S. market and highlighted substantial interest in decentralized production away from traditional large-scale chemical centers. The Iowa site marks a further step in this expansion.
