en.Wedoany.com Reported - Verogy has commenced construction of solar installations at municipal landfills in the towns of Mansfield, Morris, Somers, and Suffield, Connecticut. These projects are part of the Connecticut Non-Residential Renewable Energy Solutions (NRES) program, aiming to transform closed landfills into clean energy assets that benefit local communities.

Connecticut's NRES program compensates owners of non-residential solar projects based on the amount of clean electricity the system delivers to the grid. Under this program, projects built on capped landfills and brownfields receive a 20% bid price preference in the state procurement process. According to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, to date, 14 projects with a total installed capacity exceeding 17 megawatts have been completed on landfills under the NRES program.

Through these projects, host towns can generate rental income, increase tax revenue, and create local jobs. Verogy is responsible for all development and construction work on these projects.

Will Herchel, CEO of Verogy, stated: "These projects all tell a similar story: land that was once a community challenge is now generating renewable energy and delivering lasting economic benefits to residents. Connecticut is showing the nation how to think creatively about clean energy development, and Verogy is proud to be part of it."

Upon completion, these four projects will bring Verogy's total landfill solar installations in Connecticut to seven. The capacities of each project are: Mansfield 2.3 MWDC, Morris 1.01 MW, Somers 1.16 MW, and Suffield 1.3 MW.

Herchel said: "We are excited to work alongside Connecticut's municipal leaders to address climate change."
