Wedoany.com Report-Dec.18, WEG has delivered two hydrogenerators for a new hydroelectric power plant under construction in Turkey, further consolidating its presence in the global hydropower equipment sector.

The units were produced at WEG India's facility in Hosur. They include an SPW-model hydrogenerator rated at 27,059 kVA, 11 kV, with 18 poles, and an SPD-model unit rated at 6,059 kVA, 11 kV, with 10 poles. Both are configured for 50 Hz operation and will pair with Francis turbines.

Following commissioning, the generators are expected to synchronize with the grid, adding renewable generation capacity to Turkey's electricity system. The development contributes to expanding hydroelectric resources within the country.

WEG highlighted that the order illustrates its capability to fulfill substantial hydropower contracts using an integrated international production network. Engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance were coordinated through the Indian operations.

The company regularly provides electromechanical solutions for both greenfield and refurbishment hydropower projects in Asia, Europe, and additional markets worldwide.

This Turkish supply builds on recent domestic activities in Brazil. At the Paredinha Hydropower Plant, WEG supplied a complete package comprising three 7.3 MW turbines, three 7.8 MVA generators, transformers, electrical panels, and substation components under one agreement.

A prior project at Boa Vista II Hydropower Plant involved similar turbine and generator deliveries of comparable ratings.

These installations demonstrate WEG's expertise in delivering turnkey electromechanical systems tailored to specific site requirements. The equipment supports efficient conversion of water resources into reliable electricity output.

By leveraging manufacturing centers across regions, WEG ensures timely execution and adherence to technical specifications for diverse hydroelectric applications.

The ongoing involvement in international and local projects reinforces the company's role in advancing sustainable power generation through proven hydropower technology.

As global demand for renewable energy sources grows, such contributions help meet capacity needs with established, low-emission solutions. The Turkish plant's addition will enhance grid stability and resource diversity upon entry into service.
