Wedoany.com Report-Dec.29, On December 27, China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) and the Suzhou Municipal Government jointly announced the official launch of China's first nuclear medicine demonstration base—the second-phase project of the Huguan Campus of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University (Nuclear Industry General Hospital). The launch ceremony was held at the Nuclear Technology Medical Transformation and Clinical Application Conference hosted by CNNC in Suzhou.
The construction of this nuclear medicine demonstration base aims to promote the transformation and application of nuclear technology in the medical field, representing a concrete measure to implement China's action plans related to the nuclear technology application industry chain. The base is systematically planned around key areas such as nuclear medicine and oncology, dedicated to building a comprehensive platform integrating precision diagnosis and treatment, clinical trials, medical innovation, and training and exchange.
Xu Bo, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University, elaborated on the construction philosophy of the base: "Traditional hospital expansions mainly focus on adding beds and space, but the second phase of the Huguan Campus fundamentally builds an innovative ecosystem centered around nuclear medicine. We not only aim to treat today's diseases but also to develop better therapies for tomorrow. For example, when clinicians raise a diagnosis or treatment challenge, experts at the base can collaborate with partners to develop new drugs and equipment, which are then validated in our clinical trial center before being applied to clinical practice once matured."
On the launch day, relevant units initiated a single-photon emission computed tomography clinical trial project, an International Atomic Energy Agency regional training program for quality assurance in tumor radiotherapy, and unveiled the Nuclear Technology Medical Application Scenario Innovation Promotion Center.
