Wedoany.com Report-Dec.31, The board of MMG Limited has formally approved a feasibility study report and decided to advance a major expansion project for its Khoemacau copper mine in Botswana. The plan aims to increase annual copper concentrate production to 130,000 tonnes and silver production to over 4 million ounces.

This expansion project will be achieved by developing the Zone 5 North, Mango, and Zeta Northeast mining areas, and constructing a new concentrator with an annual processing capacity of 4.5 million tonnes. Upon completion, the mine's total ore processing capacity will exceed 8 million tonnes per year. The total capital investment is estimated to be approximately USD 900 million, including related expenditures up to 2026. The first batch of copper concentrate from the expansion is planned for production in the first half of 2028.

The company stated that this expansion is a strategic move to enhance its long-term profitability and operational scale. The mine's average C1 cost over its lifespan is expected to fall below USD 1.60 per pound, representing an optimization compared to recent actual costs. In the future, based on ongoing exploration results, the Khoemacau copper mine has the potential to further expand its annual production capacity to 200,000 tonnes. A related pre-feasibility study is planned to commence in 2026.
