WeDoAny News, April 2, 2026 - China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) issued Announcement No. 7 of 2026, publishing the first batch of enterprises that comply with the "Steel Industry Standard Conditions (2025 Edition)." The list is divided into two categories: "Leading Standard Enterprises" and "Standard Enterprises." A total of 24 integrated steel enterprises and 10 electric arc furnace (EAF) short-process enterprises are included in the leading list, while another 163 enterprises are included in the standard enterprise list, covering more than 20 provinces including Hebei, Jiangsu, Shandong, and Shanxi.
This announcement is based on the "Steel Industry Standard Conditions (2025 Edition)" (MIIT Announcement No. 1 of 2025) and was released after procedures including preliminary local review, expert re-evaluation, and online public notice. The 2025 edition standard conditions were released in January 2025, setting systematic requirements for steel enterprises in areas such as environmental protection, energy consumption levels, product quality, safety production, and social responsibility, aiming to promote high-quality development in the steel industry.
Integrated steel enterprises included in the "Leading Standard Enterprises" list include industry leaders such as Shougang Jingtang, Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., Angang Steel Co., Ltd., Shagang Group, Nanjing Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., as well as regional advantageous enterprises like Jinan Steel and Delong Steel. Among the EAF short-process enterprises, 10 companies including Shijiazhuang Iron & Steel, Fushun Special Steel, and Pangang Group Jiangyou Changcheng Special Steel are selected. According to public information, leading enterprises must meet higher standards in terms of equipment level, green and low-carbon development, and intelligent manufacturing.
The list shows distinct regional clustering characteristics. Hebei Province ranks first with 46 standard enterprises, followed by Jiangsu Province with 34, Shandong Province with 18, and Shanxi Province with 15. This distribution is largely consistent with the traditional layout of China's steel industry and also reflects the phased achievements of regional industrial consolidation. It is worth noting that four EAF short-process enterprises from Sichuan Province were selected for the leading list, indicating the layout intensity of the southwestern region in the short-process steelmaking field.

The MIIT clarified that enterprises not included in the list will undergo classified disposal according to relevant regulations. This announcement marks a new stage in the standardized management of the steel industry, where compliant operation will become a basic prerequisite for participating in market competition. For downstream users, the list provides an official basis for supplier qualification review; for financial institutions, the list will serve as an important reference for credit resource allocation.
