en.Wedoany.com Reported - Rachmat Makassau, CEO of PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (AMNT), a subsidiary of Indonesian mining company PT Amman Mineral Internasional, announced on July 14, 2026, that the company plans to increase its electrolytic copper production from 79,848 tons in 2025 to 162,662 tons in 2026, achieving a doubling of output. This production target reflects that the company's copper smelter has entered a stable operational phase after initial commissioning and accident repairs.
Amman Mineral Internasional is a mining company listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, primarily engaged in the exploration, mining, and smelting of non-ferrous metals such as copper and gold. Its subsidiary, PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara, operates the Batu Hijau copper-gold mine and its associated smelting facilities in West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. The Batu Hijau mine is one of Indonesia's largest copper-gold deposits and has been a key production base for the country since it began operations in 2000.
During a briefing to an Indonesian parliamentary committee, CEO Rachmat Makassau stated that the company's copper smelter completed its ramp-up commissioning in April 2026. Previously, the smelter experienced a minor leakage incident in 2025, forcing the company to recommission the facility. According to Makassau, as of June 2026, the smelter has the capacity to process all ore produced by the mine and is expected to fully absorb all copper concentrate output from the mine within the year. In addition to copper products, the company plans to produce 16,119 kg of gold, 45,439 kg of silver, and 572,036 tons of sulfuric acid in 2026. To further ensure the long-term stable operation of the smelter, the company plans to shut it down again for major maintenance in December 2026 or January 2027.
This output doubling plan marks the transition of Amman Mineral's copper smelting operations from the commissioning phase to large-scale production, helping to enhance Indonesia's domestic copper smelting and processing capacity. As a major copper producer in Southeast Asia, Indonesia has been promoting downstream mining policies in recent years, encouraging mining companies to build smelting and processing facilities domestically to increase resource value. The increase in Amman Mineral's electrolytic copper output will directly boost Indonesia's copper product export capacity and impact the regional copper concentrate processing market landscape.
