Colombia's Ferronickel Exports Drop 42.4% in First 7 Months

en.Wedoany.com Reported - According to the latest export data from the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) of Colombia, from January to July 2026, Colombia's ferronickel exports totaled 46,554 metric tons, down 42.4% year-on-year; the export value reached USD 156.44 million, down 41.9% year-on-year. DANE updated its July export statistics on September 3, covering indicators such as destination, net weight, and FOB value in US dollars.

In July alone, Colombia exported 9,465 metric tons of ferronickel, down 25.3% year-on-year; the export value stood at USD 36.74 million, down 8.3% year-on-year. Based on the cumulative data for January–July, Colombia's ferronickel exports in the same period of 2025 were approximately 80,800 metric tons, while the first seven months of 2026 saw a reduction of about 34,200 metric tons.

Looking at the trend by stage, the decline in Colombia's ferronickel exports was even steeper in the first four months of this year: cumulative exports from January to April totaled 21,648 metric tons, down 51.9% year-on-year, with export value reaching USD 67.27 million, down 55.3% year-on-year; April alone saw exports of 6,614 metric tons, down 51.5% year-on-year. As of the end of July, the cumulative year-on-year decline narrowed to 42.4%, but the total volume remained significantly below the level of the same period last year.

During the same period, Colombia's steel product exports also declined. From January to July, steel exports totaled 109,739 metric tons, down 26.8% year-on-year, with export value reaching USD 272.26 million, down 29.4% year-on-year; July alone saw exports of 21,207 metric tons, down 2.3% year-on-year, but the export value increased by 2.6% year-on-year to USD 56.49 million.
