Hombre Muerto Oeste may begin producing lithium chloride before the end of the year.

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 19, Australian mining company Galan Lithium presented the production and expansion plans for its Hombre Muerto West lithium project during a meeting with Raúl Jalil, Governor of Catamarca Province, Argentina. The company plans to advance commercialization of lithium chloride products by the end of 2026, and presented to the provincial government its production targets of 5,000 tons in the initial phase and 20,000 tons by 2030. The project is located in the high-altitude salt flat region of Catamarca Province, and the Phase 1 processing facility was completed this year and has entered the production ramp-up stage.

During the meeting, Sofía Zanettini Gómez, Galan Lithium's Head of Investor Relations and Environmental, Social and Governance, and Ross Dinsdale, Chief Financial Officer, presented the project's subsequent development plans. The company disclosed on September 24 that the nanofiltration unit had accumulated more than three months of operating data, with a sulfate removal rate exceeding 98%, supporting the production of lithium chloride concentrate with a target lithium content of up to 6%.

The project has now commenced earthworks for the Phase 1 expansion and plans to add pressure vessel modules to improve winter operating stability. The company expects to achieve post-expansion production levels in the second half of 2027.
