en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 20, Canadian mining company Lithium Africa announced that its Springbok lithium project in South Africa's Northern Cape Province has received two non-binding financing offers. One of them came from a lithium processing company backed by a Fortune Global 500 enterprise, which proposed to invest US$60 million for a 55% equity stake in the proposed project holding company. The other came from an international commodity trader, which proposed to provide prepayment financing secured by offtake of spodumene concentrate to support the project's initial production.

Under the equity investment proposal, the new holding company will hold Lithium Africa's current 70% interest in Namli Exploration & Mining. The investor intends to subscribe for shares in the new holding company in cash, with Lithium Africa retaining a 45% stake, equivalent to an indirect 31.5% interest in Namli. The proposal implies a pre-money valuation of approximately US$70.1 million for a 100% interest in the Springbok project, and a post-money valuation of approximately US$109 million for the new holding company. The 30% interest held by the existing local South African partner will not be affected by the transaction.

Of the proposed investment, approximately US$10 million will be used for follow-up drilling at the Springbok mining area, and the remaining US$50 million for the construction of a lithium processing plant. The second offer, from an international commodity trader, proposes to obtain offtake rights to all spodumene concentrate produced in the first three years after the project commences production through a prepayment arrangement. Lithium Africa is in financing negotiations with more than 20 potential partners, covering product offtake, prepayments, supplier financing and project equity investment.

The Springbok project plans to use dense medium separation (DMS) to process existing ore stockpiles and newly mined pegmatite ore. The company has completed two-stage separation testwork on a 13-tonne ore sample and has decided to proceed with the construction of an on-site processing facility. The Norrabees I mining area holds a current mining permit. The company plans to make a financing decision in the first half of 2027, followed by the start of construction, with the goal of producing first spodumene concentrate in the second half of 2027.

The equity investment proposal is also subject to completion of confirmatory drilling due diligence, execution of definitive agreements, board and shareholder approval, acceptance by the TSX Venture Exchange and relevant regulatory approvals.
