en.Wedoany.com Reported - Google Pics, an AI image generation and editing tool unveiled at this year's I/O conference, will be widely available to Google Workspace business and education account users starting August 18. After three months of testing as an "experiment" in Gemini Alpha, the app, built on Google's proprietary Nano Banana imaging model, will officially enter service.

Starting August 18, users within organizations subscribed to Google Workspace Business Standard, Google Workspace Business Plus, Google Workspace Enterprise Standard, Google Workspace Enterprise Plus, Google Workspace AI Expanded Access, and Google AI Pro for Education will be able to use the app. Pics can run as a standalone web application or be directly integrated into apps such as Slides, Docs, and Sheets. Its core features include generating images from text prompts, manipulating individual elements within images, editing or translating text, and replacing elements, aiming to address common flaws in AI-generated images, such as improper object proportions, spelling errors, or conflicts between elements and background images.
Launching first in the business and education sectors, the product appears to target digital image giants like Adobe (especially its Adobe Express online image editor) and Canva, as well as stock image sites such as Shutterstock and iStock. Pics will compete with Canva's Magic Grab feature (which allows repositioning, resizing, and moving objects within images) and Adobe's built-in background removal tool. By enabling direct image editing within office application suites, users no longer need to export assets to external tools.
Google stated that Pics will be enabled by default for all Workspace customers upon launch, but access can be disabled as needed. With the widespread rollout of Pics, generative AI usage limits will be implemented, though users will enjoy higher-priority access until February 28, 2027. Google has not yet announced a specific launch timeline for Pics for individual users.
