Uranium Hexafluoride Gas Leak at Nuclear Fuel Plant in Daejeon, South Korea

Wedoany.com News, January 9th - A uranium hexafluoride gas leak occurred at the No. 3 nuclear fuel warehouse of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) in Yuseong District, Daejeon, South Korea. The Nuclear Safety and Security Commission of South Korea has announced an investigation into the incident.

It is understood that the accident was caused by improper sealing of the maintenance area, leading to a gas leak during maintenance of the uranium conversion reactor facility.
After inspecting the safety situation at the site, the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission's Daejeon regional office confirmed that there was no radiation leakage outside the facility and no casualties.
