Recently, Siemens Mobility and Polish manufacturer Newag signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two parties in the Polish rail transit market and expanding their previous cooperation in the subway train sector to the high-speed train sector. Just one month prior, Polish intercity rail operator PKP Intercity initiated its first tender for trains with speeds exceeding 300 km/h, planning to procure up to 55 electric multiple units with a speed of 320 km/h.

This Memorandum of Understanding establishes a framework for knowledge exchange, technical evaluation, and coordination between the engineering and manufacturing teams of the two companies. The identified areas include high-speed train development, full lifecycle services, and advanced maintenance concepts.

The CEO of Polish manufacturer Newag stated that Newag and Siemens Mobility have been cooperating for nearly 15 years on projects related to the Warsaw and Sofia metros. We are a long-term customer of Siemens Mobility, procuring its drive systems for passenger cars and locomotives, as well as complete ETCS onboard systems for trains. In the field of high-speed train projects, Siemens Mobility is our natural strategic partner.

The CEO of the Siemens Mobility Group stated that based on long-term cooperation, we aim to drive innovation, enhance local value creation, and contribute to the next phase of railway development in Poland.
