Wedoany.com Report on Jan 31st, Controlled Thermal Resources Holdings Ltd., a U.S. geothermal resource developer, announced the establishment of U.S. Data Power Company, specifically responsible for developing and operating the power generation facilities for its "Hell's Kitchen" geothermal project in Imperial County, California. This news was announced at the Baker Hughes Annual Meeting held in Florence, Italy.

This announcement was made following the company's eight-year collaboration with Baker Hughes, which covered various aspects including technical validation, geological analysis, engineering design, and drilling planning. The field development plan recently completed by the two companies confirmed the technical feasibility and commercial value of producing 600 MW of net baseload power from the "Hell's Kitchen" project.

The energy complex planned by U.S. Data Power Company aims to build a power supply site development zone, expected to achieve a power capacity factor exceeding 95%, ensuring high operational reliability. This performance metric is designed to meet the continuous high-load power demands of hyperscale data centers, while also helping to reduce carbon emissions during operation.

Rod Colwell, CEO of Controlled Thermal Resources, stated, "Access to stable baseload power has become a key constraint on the development of artificial intelligence and hyperscale data infrastructure in the United States." He added, "The Salton Sea geothermal field currently has approximately 450 MW of baseload power generation capacity, with an estimated additional 2.5 GW of capacity yet to be developed—enough to provide round-the-clock power for an entire city. This is a massive, yet underutilized, clean energy resource that can provide an immediate, large-scale solution to current energy challenges."

This 4,000-acre project has received broad support at the state and federal levels and is located within the "Lithium Valley Specific Plan" area of Imperial County. This master plan lists data centers and related digital infrastructure as permitted uses within designated industrial zones, providing a clear approval pathway for the project, effectively reducing development risks, and facilitating project planning and financing.

The plan for U.S. Data Power Company is supported by Controlled Thermal Resources Holdings Ltd.'s initial 50 MW power plant and critical minerals project, which are being implemented through its subsidiary, U.S. Critical Resources, and are currently nearing the construction-ready stage. Colwell further noted, "'Hell's Kitchen' and the broader Salton Sea geothermal resource are of significant strategic importance. This is a resource validated by 40 years of operation, capable of rapid expansion to meet near-term energy demands, while also helping to address long-term energy supply stability issues as alternative technologies and energy storage systems mature."
