Wedoany.com Report on Feb 6th, The European Commission has recently approved €3 billion (approximately $3.5 billion) in funding for Germany, aimed at incentivizing development in the clean technology manufacturing sector, with hydrogen solutions being a key focus of support. This funding is allocated under the "Clean Industrial Agreement State Aid Framework" (CISAF) adopted in June 2025, which will continue to provide support until the end of 2030.

The eligible investment projects covered by the CISAF framework include electrolyzers, fuel cells, storage technologies, compressors, ammonia crackers, pipeline systems, as well as renewable energy infrastructure such as wind, solar, and hydropower. The European Commission stated that the plan will support the decarbonization of industrial processes through "electrification, increased energy efficiency, and the shift to using renewable and electricity-based hydrogen." Furthermore, the production and recycling of relevant critical raw materials are also included in the scope of support.

Executive Vice-President for a Clean, Just, and Competitive Transition, Teresa Ribera, emphasized: "This funding is crucial for achieving the goals of the Clean Industrial Agreement while also helping to minimize potential competitive distortions." Germany's support in the hydrogen sector currently ranks among the highest in EU countries. Berlin and Brussels recently reached a forward-looking plan aiming to convert 12 gigawatts of domestic power plants to use hydrogen by 2045. Additionally, Germany has agreed to provide up to €200 million (approximately $232 million) to Canada for importing green hydrogen.

In the transportation sector, Germany recently invested €220 million (approximately $260 million) to build a pilot network of hydrogen refueling stations, a move seen as aligning with the EU's Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBO) targets. Overall, this €3 billion in funding will significantly advance clean technology manufacturing in Germany and the wider EU, particularly in the application and promotion of hydrogen solutions.
